The Irresistible Liar

An Unnatural Vice (Sins of the Cities) - KJ Charles

Now that's more like it!

I admit the first book from the series An Unseen Attraction was not my favorite of K.J Charles' .
But I loved that one.

Nathaniel had me interested in him from the very first time he appeared. And Justin- he's the type of character that I know if I met in real life, I 'd fall head over hills for him.

I loved the angst, their dialogues, their arguing and love making/ although I am not sure love- making is strong enough to describe their super hot and angry sex/ .
I liked how despite how totally different their values were, they found their way towards each other, and at the same time stayed true to what they are.

I am already looking forward to the last book of the series and I really need to know more about my other favorite character of the series.

That Hot Vampire

Triad Soul - Nathan Burgoine

I liked the second book even better than the first part.

Our trio is investigating a mysterious murderer, which turns out to be more and more complicated as the story unfolds. I had my suspicious who might be the bad guy, but with so much magic even I was perplexed at some point.

I liked the way their search went- they didn't just miraculously found the answers they were looking for, but put their minds together, it was fun to see them think and work together as one.

There are side character and that's what they are- on the side, I enjoy it when there isn't too much focus on the minor characters and at some point you wonder why you read about those people.
/ although Mann, the poetry teacher has my interest, I hope to see more of him in the next book too/.

The Families still sit on their high and mighty thrones, although I kind of like them.

Speaking of the characters- Luc is still my favorite one.

" I am your Duc, Luc Lanteigne. Ottawa and much of the area around is mine under the terms of the lignage, as ordered by la reine"
Every time he appeared I felt like pouring myself a glass of wine and listening to whatever he had to say.
Like- come on, I can have a conversation about wine. Hell, I will even learn French if I have to for him.
It's very untypical of me to be so excited about a character/ a vampire at that, as I am not fond of vampire stories / , so dear Nathan Burgoine- please give us more Luc. I really want to see him...more emotional and less untouchable? /I know it will happen, it's there, that's not just my wishful thinking, right? :) /

Curtis finally asked the important question at the end of the book, and with that our boys have a long way to go ahead of them.
So I will patiently wait for the next part. With a glass of wine in my hand.

The Sexiest Trio

Triad Blood - Nathan Burgoine

What an interesting trio we have here!

When I see the Menage tag, I am often like " OK, no actual plot here" ...
Imagine my surprise when I realized that's not the case here. At all.

I liked the world building and the different points of view of the characters / Luc's being my favorite one, of course / .
I didn't expect it to be funny, but I often found myself grinning at whatever Anders was saying .

Off to read the second part of the book, where I actually hope to see those three together in a more...intimate situation

Captive Prince: Volume One - C.S. Pacat, S.U. Pacat
“Laurent could inspire homicidal tendencies simply by breathing.”

How About a Cup of Tea?

An Unseen Attraction - K.J. Charles

This is a bit different form what I usually get from K.J.Charles. I mean- I think she's brilliant at creating the type of angst I love between characters and with Clem and Rowley was so different.
They were very quiet in their attraction. I appreciated their honesty, but strangely enough I found myself more interested in Mark and Nathaniel, rather than in the two main characters.

Perception Changing

Call Me by Your Name - André Aciman

"I had finally encountered the life that was right for me but had failed to have. "

I finished the book last night actually and been staring into blank space since, wondering what to say about it.

Should I declare that it is so poetically written, that it feels like Elio's words have formed an entity of their own, roaming in my head?
Or can I admit that reading those words doesn't feel like someone has ripped my heart?
No. It feels like someone broke half my ribs clumsily, took out whatever they could reach behind them and then put it all back, leaving me to make do with what I have left.

Or maybe say that it's so honest and painfully raw, and at the same time not diminishing human desires for what they are?...

That it is one of those books that changes you. In such a way that you know everyone can tell you're changed. They'll look at you and sense something happened, to you or in your head, and you're not the same anymore.

P.S I loved the movie too, I must say Timothee Chalamet was amazing in the role of Elio

Monochrome

Down For the Count (Pushkin Vertigo) - Martin Holmen, Henning Koch
" Harry Kvist in a magnificent comeback "

This is one of those books that don't make me think of how much research the author has done to describe the 1930s well.
No- it feels like it was actually written back then. No out of place phrases, vivid descriptions of the setting and character traits. In some moments I even felt I could smell the streets and its inhabitants.
Martin Holmén and his translator Henning Koch have done a great job.

They say every cynic was once a disappointed idealist.
Harry Kvist is the type of character who'll make you question your morals. Inevitably reminds me of Bret Easton Ellis' characters. Every time I tried to dissect him, I was challenged by his being unpredictable.
Would I ask him for a boxing advice- Of course!
Would I want him to be my friend- Yes/ Maybe
Would I dare ask him for a cigarette- No
Would I think of starting a fight with him- Hell no!
You never know what's in his head and that makes him intimidating, even scary. The only thing you know for sure- he'll keep his word. All all cost. Because as he himself says : you can't get away from a promise, " it's always honor and glory all the bloody way, but when you think about it, those are the only things the poor have". A man of his word, even of he's the only one who believes in it.

This was my first encounter with the author and his magnificent character, and I can't wait to see more them!
